Annunciation Catholic School has always had a superior preschool education program that developed the readiness skills necessary for Kindergarten. In a safe and nurturing classroom environment with a loving and state-certified teacher and assistant, our little pre-schoolers were able to grow and thrive. When Florida began its Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program, it was easy for us to join the program and return the cost of a PK education to our parents.
The requirements for the state to pay for the costs of the VPK program are that the child must be four years old on or before September 1st and they cannot be five years old before the start of the school year. Parents must be able to prove Florida residency and obtain the eligibility paperwork that is returned to the school.
The PK session is from 7:45-10:45 AM The sessions are taught by Florida certified early childhood educator with an assistant and offer an identical curriculum in the same facility. The curriculum incorporates art, music, physical exercise, inside play and learning centers, outside play on the playground, and the foundational development of all the early reading and mathematics concepts on which future education will be built.
Because VPK is a state program through Episcopal Children’s Services, you will need to enroll your student for kindergarten as a new student. Enrollment in kindergarten requires the successful completion of a pre-kindergarten program.
Enrollment in the VPK programs at Annunciation or St. Luke Childcare does not guarantee a spot in kindergarten at Annunciation Catholic School in the next academic year.
Children whose parents are unable to pick them up at 10:45 AM when the morning session ends may remain in our Wrap Around VPK with their friends and a loving adult who supervises their play, crafts activities, lunch, and rest time.
VPK Certificate of Eligibility Sign-Ups will begin in January. Any parents needing to register for Annunciation will also need a certificate of eligibility.
